What exactly is self-storage?

You rent your own unit for belongings that do not fit at home or at work. You bring and collect your items yourself and choose a size that suits your needs. Our Dutch locations are Terneuzen and Vlissingen.

What sizes are available?

Contact us for available unit sizes in Terneuzen or Vlissingen. The temporary general Belgian booking environment does not automatically show Dutch availability. Ask for exact dimensions and door width, taking the size of your belongings into account.

Question 3

Is my unit secure?

Accepted Answer

The storage facility is secured and your belongings are kept in a locked unit. During a visit, ask how building and unit access work. Only share access with people who are authorised to collect your belongings.

Are the units heated or cooled?

Accepted Answer

Our Dutch units are ventilated and frost-free. Discuss items with special temperature or humidity requirements with us beforehand. Frost-free does not mean every unit maintains a fixed, controlled temperature.

Are the units dust-free?

Accepted Answer

Dust can settle over time in a storage environment. Close boxes securely and cover furniture with suitable breathable covers. Make sure belongings are clean and dry before placing them in storage.

What should I not put in storage?

Accepted Answer

Article 10 prohibits, among other things, illegal or stolen goods, weapons, ammunition, explosives, fireworks, drugs, hazardous substances, gas cylinders, asbestos, waste, living animals or plants and perishable goods. Items causing odours, leaks or pests, or lacking a required permit, are also prohibited. Exceptionally valuable or irreplaceable items are subject to Article 10.2: prior written consent and evidence of appropriate insurance are required. Check the full terms before bringing your belongings.

Can I store liquids in my unit?

Accepted Answer

Hazardous, toxic, corrosive, flammable or environmentally harmful liquids are prohibited under Article 10.1. Products causing leaks or odours are also not permitted. Sealed packaging does not change this. If you are unsure whether another product is allowed, ask before bringing it.

What about electronics and lithium batteries?

Pack electronics clean and dry and protect connectors and screens. Discuss battery-powered devices and loose lithium batteries beforehand, as additional restrictions may apply. Do not charge batteries in a storage unit.

Can a sales representative store stock with you?

Accepted Answer

A unit can provide extra room for promotional materials, samples or sales stock. Check beforehand that the products are suitable and permitted. Keep an inventory and make frequently used items easy to reach.

Can I store my online shop stock?

Accepted Answer

You can use the unit for dry, passive storage of permitted stock and packaging materials. It is not a workplace or sales outlet: commercial activities in or from the storage unit are not permitted. Discuss unusual products in advance and check the prohibited goods in Article 10. Label your boxes and keep access routes clear.

Can I store documents and archives?

Accepted Answer

Ordinary archives can be stored clean and dry in sturdy, labelled boxes. You remain responsible for protecting confidential documents, their retention periods and access. Unique documents and other records of exceptional or irreplaceable value are not permitted unless Cobalt Box gives prior written consent and appropriate insurance is demonstrated (Article 10.2).

Can I store food?

Accepted Answer

Perishable food and products that could attract pests or cause odours do not belong in a storage unit. If your business stock includes food products, discuss the exact products with us first and check the rental terms.

Can I store paint and building materials?

Accepted Answer

Clean, dry and permitted building materials may be stored passively; avoid overloading and damage. Hazardous, toxic, corrosive, flammable or environmentally harmful paints, solvents and other substances are prohibited under Article 10.1. Asbestos, waste and items causing odours or leaks are also prohibited. Unopened packaging does not make a prohibited product acceptable.

Can I work or do crafts inside my unit?

Accepted Answer

The unit is intended solely for dry, passive storage. Use as living or sleeping accommodation, a workshop, production facility, sales outlet, postal address, business address or registered office is prohibited unless Cobalt Box gives prior written permission otherwise (Article 9.3). Illegal, dangerous, disruptive or commercial activities in or from the unit are not permitted (Article 10.3).

What about jewellery, cash or irreplaceable items?

Accepted Answer

Cash, securities, unique documents, jewellery, precious metals, art, collectibles and other items of exceptional or irreplaceable value are not permitted. An exception is only possible with Cobalt Box’s prior written consent and evidence of appropriate insurance. See Article 10.2 of our terms and conditions.

Can I store a motorbike, moped or bicycle?

Accepted Answer

Discuss the vehicle before bringing it and check its dimensions, weight and access requirements. Hazardous and flammable substances and items causing leaks are prohibited under Article 10.1. Do not assume that a vehicle containing fuel or a battery is automatically permitted.

Can I store tools or materials for my business?

Accepted Answer

Permitted tools, parts and materials can be stored dry and passively. The unit must not be used as a workshop without prior written permission. Flammable fuels and other hazardous substances are prohibited. Discuss heavy machinery and batteries in advance and prevent overloading, leaks and damage.

Can I install shelving or racks?

Accepted Answer

Free-standing shelving helps organise boxes. Measure the available space and leave a walkway. Discuss the layout and loading with us; do not drill into or attach anything to walls, floors or the unit without prior permission.

Can I rent more than one unit?

Accepted Answer

Want to separate personal belongings from business stock, or need additional space? Check availability at each location and contact us to discuss multiple units. Availability and terms must be checked for each chosen unit.

Question 20

What if my unit turns out to be too small?

Accepted Answer

Contact us before continuing to load. We can check whether another size is available and what changes are needed. A larger unit or immediate move depends on availability and the applicable terms.

Question 21

What are the storage access hours?

Accepted Answer

You can access your belongings every day from 06:00 to 23:00. These access hours are separate from staffed office hours. Arrange an appointment if you would like an employee to show you the location.

Question 22

Can I load and unload indoors?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can load and unload indoors and use moving trolleys to take belongings to your unit. Pack heavy items in manageable boxes and keep passageways clear for other customers.

What if I lose my key or access code?

Accepted Answer

Report loss, misuse or suspected misuse immediately on 0113 693 113 or at info@cobaltbox.nl. Include your location and unit. Cobalt Box may change or temporarily block access codes for security reasons. Access credentials are personal and confidential; you are responsible for people to whom you grant access (Article 11).

Start by listing what you want to store, such as furniture, moving boxes, seasonal items or business stock. The storage calculator gives you an initial estimate of the space you need. Also consider how you will stack your belongings and whether you need access to particular items during your rental. Unsure about the size? Choose Terneuzen or Vlissingen and view the location page. The booking module temporarily uses the general Belgian booking environment. For availability and a booking at a Dutch location, contact us on 0113 693 113 or at info@cobaltbox.nl. Before completing a booking, always check the location, storage unit, price and applicable terms.

Yes. Contact us on +31 113 693 113 or at info@cobaltbox.nl to discuss visiting Terneuzen or Vlissingen. A visit lets you see the different units and get a better idea of the size you need. You can also see how indoor loading and unloading works and ask questions about access to the building and your unit. This helps you understand how you can store your belongings at the location before making a choice.
